Christy has been a professional in the fields of education, copyediting and copywriting for over two decades. She holds a M.S. degree in education from Purdue University with additional certification in administration and supervision.
Her career began in the realm of elementary teaching, where the skill of effective writing begins with young children in the classroom. She developed a freelance editing and writing business soon after she began teaching school. Her teaching experience also includes graduate level students as well as coaching college entrance students with their writing skills. She has also worked closely with university professors as they prepared their dissertations.
Christy’s copyediting expertise helped her gain employment with the well-known publishing company, Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, in conjunction with the United States Department of Defense.
Always aspiring to further her own education, Christy added Search Engine Optimization to her copyediting resume as she has found this area to be in demand and enjoys participating in innovative topics. She has recent experience editing SEO documents, press releases, web content, numerous online documents, book manuscripts, magazine articles, business brochures, and blogs.
Along with publishing her own work, Christy prides herself in assisting writers through her editorial position. Her belief is that a copyeditor’s best work is accomplished through polishing an author’s original work, allowing that document to outperform all others, and at the same time not losing the writer’s voice. This, to her, is the sign of a true professional.
