Add and Edit Images
From the media library

In WordPress, users can access the media library by clicking on the media menu item on the left-hand sidebar, and then clicking library. Here you will see a list of all the menu items that have been uploaded, including audio, video, graphic images, PDFs, and other documents. All uploaded media will be accessible from this list, including items directly uploaded from posts or pages. Once media is in the library, it can be used in any post or page of your site.
Hovering your mouse over an item in the list will display a list of options allowing you to edit, delete permanently, or view the media file. Clicking on the either the name of the media file or the edit option takes you to the edit page for that item. Here you will see a thumbnail version of the file, and the filename, file type, and upload date. You will also see a number of fields that can be edited, including the title, alternate text for those who cannot view media, caption, and description. You can also see the location or URL of the media file, which you can use to directly access the file. You can easily copy this URL into your clipboard for use elsewhere.
Click on the update media button to save any changes you make. Clicking on the delete permanently option will display a popover dialogue box to confirm you want to permanently delete the file, with no ability to restore it. Clicking on the view option, will display the media file as a post on your website.
From your computer

To add an image to a post or page, click on the add an image icon next to the Upload/Insert text located above the formatting toolbar. A pop up dialogue box will appear, and you will have the option to upload an image from your computer. Click on the select files button and then select the image you want to appear, and then press open or select. You will see a loading bar while the image uploads. Once it is uploaded, you can enter a title, alternate text for users who cannot see the image, a caption, and a description.
The link URL option allows you to choose where you want the image to link to when clicked. By default, this is set to the file URL, so that the viewer can see the full image when they click on it. You can also select this to post URL so that it links to the post. Select the alignment you want as well as the size. From here, select the insert into post button, which then inserts the image into the editor. Click on the preview changes button before publishing or the publish/update button to make your changes immediately.
From a URL

Click on the add an image icon next to the Upload/Insert text located above the formatting toolbar. A pop up dialogue box will appear and you will have the option to upload an image from a webpage or URL.
Select the From URL tab and enter or paste the location of the image’s URL into the image URL field. Enter a title and alternate text for users who cannot see the image. Also enter a caption and select the alignment. From here, select the insert into post button, which then inserts the image into the editor. Click on the preview changes button before publishing or the Publish/Update button to make your changes immediately.
To Edit An Image in a Post or Page

Click on the image and then click the edit icon. A pop up dialogue box will appear where you can change the image size, alignment, title, alternate text, caption and the link URL or the location where the image links. The advanced settings tab can further customize the image. Clicking on the update button saves your changes. From here, click on the preview button before publishing or click the publish button to publish the change to your website.
To Edit Media in the Media Library
Click on the media menu item on the left-hand sidebar, and then click library. Here you will see a list of all the media files on your site and then find the item you want to edit. Then hover your mouse over the item to find a list of options. Click on either the item’s name or the edit option to edit the item. On the edit page, click on the edit image button to open the image editor.
Crop and Scale an Image
To crop an image, simply press and hold down your left mouse button and drag the mouse over the image to outline the area you would like to crop. Then click the crop icon. There is a useful help link in the crop section that will show you keyboard shortcuts, aspect ratios, and crop selection. In order for changes to be saved while using the editing tools, you will need to click the save button. You can restore an image to its original look by clicking the restore image button.
To scale an image, click on the scale image button. The image’s dimensions are first shown in width and then height. When you enter a new dimension for either measurement, the system will automatically calculate the other to maintain the aspect ratio. Click on the scale button to proceed with the change. To update the image, select the version of the image you would like to update, then press the update media button.
To Rotate or Flip
The image editor provides tools that let you easily rotate or flip an image. To rotate, click on the counterclockwise or clockwise tool. To flip, click on the flip vertically or flip horizontally tool. You can click on the undo or redo tool to change the last step you made to the image. Be sure to press save to have your changes saved by the image editor. There are a number of additional optional fields. Press update media to update the image.
