Proponents of the Consumer Financial Protection Agency worry that it will become further watered down once the Dodd bill reaches the Senate floor for debate. John Taylor, president of the National Community Reinvestment Coalition, says of the bill in its current form, “It’s the consumer abuse and the lack of accountability and the lack of oversight of the lenders that got us into this mess.
